GWO Blade Repair and Inspection is a vital component in the operation and maintenance of wind turbine generators. A wind turbine blade repair technician not only helps improve performance but more critically maintains blades for safety reasons. Over a period of time damage on leading edges and other areas can occur. Over the operational lifetime a wind turbine blade receives regular inspections and repairs to maintain operation.

The wind turbine industry is expanding at a rapid pace, and the UK is one of the leading offshore wind energy providers in the world.

In a resent report commissioned by Renewable UK and Energy Utility Skills it is stated that

the total generating capacity from offshore wind could grow from 6.4GW in 2017 to 35GW by 2032.

In that same report it is recommended a large increase in training and development, especially in blade repair.

the growth in capacity will mean that 36,000 people will need to be employed in offshore wind by 2032

The GWO Blade Reapair standard gives the candidate all the skills needed to undertake simple to complex blade repairs.
